The holidays are upon us and there are plenty of festive activities in Alexanria. Here are some of our favorite things to do in Alexandria during the holiday season.
- Walking along King Street under the twinkling lights in the trees, shopping in boutiques decorated for the holidays is always a treat this time of year. On November 23rd the annual Tree Lighting ceremony will be held in front of City Hall.
- The 49th Annual Scottish Christmas Walk weekend & Parade will be held on December 6-7th. The parade will be on Saturday the 7th at 11am, which will be followed by many other festivities benefiting The Campagna Center.
- On December 7th the 20th Anniversary Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights will start at 5:30pm. Dockside festivities will be from 2-8pm. There will be many activities, crafts, and a Letters to Santa postcard station. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by fireboat to the Alexandria City Marina at 3:30 to take photos with children.
- Christmas at Mount Vernon. From Nov 29th thru Dec 31st there will be holiday programs each day. Another favorite is Mount Vernon by Candlelight, this is for select evenings during November and December, buy tickets early as they often sell out. On December 20th and 21st there will be fireworks choreographed to holiday music.
