Where to Cool Off & Have Fun: A Guide to Local Waterparks

The past couple of weeks in Alexandria have been scorching. And we are in for a brutal weekend. Staying indoors might not be the easiest thing to do with the kids out of school, so where do you go to cool off and have fun in this heat?! Here’s a list of splash parks, waterparks and pools that are complete with water slides, lazy rivers & even cocktails for mom. Good news, you don’t have to venture far to visit any of the places on the list. So load up the sunscreen, towels and gear and get to splashing!

ALEXANDRIA

Our Special Harbor Spray Park

6601 Telegraph Rd. | Alexandria

This park features Chesapeake Bay-themed attractions including a spraying osprey nest, Chessie the sea serpent, misting sunflowers and a lighthouse.

Great Waves Waterpark

Located at Cameron Run Regional Park in Alexandria. It has water slides, a wave pool and an interactive splash pad. Admission: Kids Under 2 are Free, General Admission $15 per day

Ocean Dunes Waterpark

6060 Wilson Blvd. | Arlington

Location in Arlington’s Upton Hill Regional Park and has a 230-foot open slide, a 170-foot covered slide, a 500-gallon bucket that dumps water and more!

Admission: Kids Under 2 are Free, General Admission $8.50
