About Old Town:

Old Town is a vibrant community and a harmonious blend of old and new. Old town was the third historic named designation in the country after Charleston and New Orleans. Here you’ll find historic homes dating back to 1800 and cobblestone streets. You’ll also find newer construction ranging from luxury town homes to swanky condos with water views. Properties in Old Town range in price from $200s to the Millions.[/wptabcontent]

Lifestyle:

Old town is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in Northern Virginia and its also an excellent location for commuters because of the easy bus access and two Metro stops.  Although long known for its antique shops, the Torpedo Factory Arts Center and other tourist attractions, Old Town has recently taken its place as one of the premier shopping and dining destinations in the DC Metro area.  Fall 2012 Alexandria will host its first Fashion’s Night Out event. This global event  in sponsored by Vogue Magazine and takes place on the same night in cities around the globe such as New York, London, Madrid and LA.

In the last 5 years we’ve seen significant growth in local independently owned businesses. From clothing and shoe boutiques to gourmet specialty shops, art galleries and home decor – Old Town is the place to shop. For all the latest on local boutiques and dining in Alexandria check out my Alexandria Lifestyle blog.

Old Town has also experienced a major transformation in its restaurant scene. When world-renowned chef Cathal Armstrong and famous mixologist, Todd Thrasher began opening restaurants (which now include Restaurant Eve, The Majestic, Virtue and Society Fair ) in Old Town a few years ago it really put Alexandria on the map in terms of being a dining destination.  As a results we’ve seen the emergence of a whole crop of great new restaurants from casual eateries to more upscale international dining.

Boaters, dog owners and  those who enjoy being outdoors love Old Town. With a boating marina, playgrounds and several dog parks, Old Town offers something for everyone.
