Greenery – Color of the Year for 2017

Jessica Richardson Tips

Pantone’s 2017 Color of the year is “Greenery” and I am really digging it.

Pantone describes, Greenery as  “a refreshing and revitalizing shade, symbolic of new beginnings.  A life-affirming shade,  emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.”

Considered nature’s neutral, Greenery really speaks to me this time of year when everything outside is dull and grey.  With spring seemingly so far away (after all the groundhog did see his shadow last week), incorporating some punches of Greenery into your home is a great way to brighten things up.

What is the PANTONE Color of the Year?

Every year since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute has declared a “Color of the Year.” Chosen at a secret meeting in Europe, representatives from various nation’s color standards groups come together and choose a color selection reflective of what is happening in our global culture. It represents an expression of the current mood and attitude.

What does that mean?

According to Pantone, ” The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront – it is an omnipresent hue around the world.”
